I think that we all know that our task as Christians is to proclaim the Gospel; at least, I hope we all know that. And I think we all know that ‘Gospel’ means ‘Good News’, the ‘good news’ of Jesus Christ.

I read an interesting article recently, written by a consultant podiatrist. It was not about feet, but faith. He suggested that there is a growing receptivity towards faith; a growing willingness to take seriously questions which a decade or two ago would have been dismissed as not being worthy of consideration. He gives as examples of this people who might read books about faith, or listen to podcasts which engage with these questions, or might sometimes seek out a seat in a church or cathedral – not to attend a service, but simply to sit in a place which feels somehow different.

This Is The Kit’s music places companionship at a premium, so being welcomed into its space feels like an obvious privilege, on record and in concert hall with her stellar supporting cast of Rozi Plain (bass), Jamie Whitby-Coles (drums) and Neil Smith (guitar). And at this current point in our confusing history, continuing to be here at all, to stand tall and make music to gather to, that’s a heroic act. Joyful survival as an act of time-wasting, I’ll take that any day of the week.

The Aurin Girls' Choir (Hungary)
We are very excited to be welcoming back the amazing Aurin Girls’ Choir for a concert on Monday 29 June, 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Bruton. From the Kodály Music School in Kecskemét, Hungary these girls and the younger Miraculum Children’s Choir have visited Bruton many times and delighted us with their excellent performances. The choir has an outstanding international reputation and have won many 1st prizes including at the World Choir Games (China) and at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.

Join us in St. Mary’s Church, Bruton, for a very special performance of Henry Purcell’s opera. With a cast led by rising international star Rebecca Leggett in the title role, Bruton Choral Society led by Barbara Jenkinson, and a baroque instrumental ensemble led by Maggie Faultless, this promises to be a night to remember.
Bruton Choral Society and The Echoing Air want to make this event accessible to everyone, no matter their circumstances. There are a limited number of tickets for seats in the side aisles available at a reduced rate of £5 for people who would otherwise not be able to attend.
